Madison Avenue Era

As one of the pioneering "MadMen," Pablo Carreno played a significant role in launching the U.S. Hispanic Madison Avenue advertising era. Working as a freelance art director for Spanish Advertising and Marketing Services (SAMS), the first and ultimately largest agency of its kind, he helped shape how major American brands connected with Hispanic audiences.

This commercial work not only supported his fine art practice but also connected him with influential figures across business, entertainment, and politics who would become patrons and subjects of his portrait work.

"...to achieve a higher art, something none of us know, an elusive and ethereal goal that haunts him every minute of every day."

— Peter T. Tunney
